المملكة: President of Sdaya: The Kingdom is establishing its global center for innovation in artificial intelligence
The head of the Saudi Data Authority and Artificial Intelligence "Sdaya" D. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, said that the Kingdom is moving confidently towards consolidating its position as a global center for innovation in artificial intelligence.
He pointed out that "Sdaya" Since its establishment in 2019, it has taken the initiative to enhance the capabilities of the digital infrastructure in the Kingdom by operating the National Information Center and launching the National Data Bank, which is the largest collection of government data in the region, as more than 400 huge government systems have been integrated under its umbrella.
This came in a speech he delivered during his participation today in the dialogue session held in US-Saudi Investment Forum 2025 held in the United States of America, entitled "The digital blueprint for the future of the world of artificial intelligence"In the presence of a number of ministers, government leaders, decision-makers, international experts, and investors from the Saudi and American sides.
He added: Sdaya in planning, developing and operating artificial intelligence policies, and improving data quality and unifying it at the national level.
He explained that the Kingdom is moving confidently towards consolidating its position as a global center for innovation in artificial intelligence.
Cleansing data and artificial intelligence
Al-Ghamdi explained that establishing "Sdaya" An integrated government system that contributes to the planning, development and operation of data and artificial intelligence policies, as it supervises 3 main agencies that include: the operational arm that manages the national data infrastructure represented by the National Information Center, the regulatory arm represented by the National Data Management Office, and the innovation and artificial intelligence arm represented by the National Center for Artificial Intelligence.
He pointed out that this integration enabled the Kingdom to manage the entire system of artificial intelligence, starting from infrastructure all the way to practical applications.
He pointed out that the Kingdom has achieved great progress in the field of Large linguistic models, as they are developed "Sdaya" In cooperation with its partners, a package of advanced linguistic models that rely on huge Arabic data sources.
He said that these models, such as "What?" It processed more than 500 billion Tokens in the Arabic language, and collected more than 350,000 Arabic text publications in a unified database, which is considered one of the largest linguistic projects in the Arab world. These efforts received praise from the international company IBM during the IBM Think event last year in the American city of Boston.
Developing many products and innovations
In his speech, the President of Sdaya touched on the centers of excellence that it launched. "Sdaya" With a number of government agencies working in the health, energy, transportation, and education sectors, in addition to research centers and the private sector, indicating their importance in developing unified solutions based on realistic use cases and central operational needs.
As well as in developing many products and innovations that later moved to the expansion stage across the industrial sector.
He added: Quoted "Sdaya" Intellectual property ownership for more than 30 technical products after their development, as was the case with Humin Company, with the aim of supporting technical localization and expanding the scope of the use of artificial intelligence solutions in various vital sectors.
He stressed that this path reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to transform research and innovation into practical products that create a tangible economic and development impact.
