المملكة: Starting tomorrow in Qatif… Partial closure of the Dhahran-Jubail Road bridges for maintenance

The Eastern Province Secretariat, in direct coordination with the Traffic Department, announced the start of implementation of Comprehensive maintenance workand rehabilitation work for the two bridges on the Dhahran-Jubail Highway in Qatif Governorate, starting tomorrow, Friday, as part of an urgent plan to raise the efficiency of this vital artery and ensure the safety of its passengers.
Maintenance and rehabilitation work
The technical work is concentrated – according to the secretariat’s statement – in the area located at the intersections of King Abdulaziz Street and Al-Biruni Street, where the dilapidated expansion joints will be replaced and re-scraped And asphalting the layers of the road, in addition to enhancing traffic safety methods in accordance with the highest approved engineering standards.
The operational plan for the project imposed a partial closure of the lanes heading to Dammam on the two bridges in question, while keeping the movement of vehicles partially continuous to reduce congestion, in order to ensure that traffic does not stop completely during the maintenance period.
The Traffic Department approved temporary engineering diversions to ensure Flow of movement, as vehicles coming from King Abdulaziz Street and wishing to head to Dammam will be directed to use Al-Biruni Street in Safwa as a safe alternative route that ensures they reach their destinations with the least amount of delay.
Infrastructure Development
These improvements come within a package of strategic projects aimed at developing the infrastructure of the network of pivotal roads, bridges and tunnels in the Eastern Region, in an effort to reduce accidents and raise the quality of life, keeping pace with the increasing traffic density and the comprehensive development renaissance.
At the conclusion of its statement, the Secretariat stressed the need for vehicle drivers to exercise caution, and to fully adhere to the specified speeds and the temporary information signs that were posted around the work area, in order to preserve their safety and the safety of the working field teams.
