“It doesn’t help Liverpool… Leave him on the bench!”

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney made fiery statements against Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, stressing that the Egyptian international is not providing the required defensive support, which is harming his team in the current period, as he put it.
Rooney said in statements to the ESPN network that Liverpool coach, Arne Sloat, must seriously consider placing Mohamed Salah on the bench temporarily… Salah does not help the team defensively, adding: “I understand that Salah is a legend in the club, and everything he has done previously is credited to him, and I wonder if Salah himself was sitting on the bench, what message would he send if he saw one of his main teammates not participating in the defensive effort?”
Rooney continued: “If I were coach Slott, I would have made a decisive decision that affects the team as a whole, because when you don’t win, you need the team to be cohesive and difficult for competitors to defeat. Salah can be brought back later after restoring defensive discipline.”
Rooney pointed out that the problem is not limited to Salah only, saying: “The team was not good at all, and the problem is not limited to Van Dyck or Salah alone.”
Rooney’s statements come after Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat against Nottingham Forest (0-3), two weeks after losing to Manchester City with the same score, in a continuation of the team’s crisis in the English Premier League.
Liverpool is preparing to face PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday in the Champions League, before hosting West Ham on Sunday in the 13th round of the Premier League, amid questions about Slot’s ability to restore the team’s balance and return its Egyptian star to the required defensive level.
