Colina reveals a new legal experience that will make football “more beautiful, exciting and fun.”

The head of the FIFA Referees Committee, Pierluigi Collina, revealed that the Arab Cup for National Teams, which begins on Monday in Doha, will witness the implementation of a new experimental amendment that he said would make football more beautiful, exciting and enjoyable.

Collina explained in his speech to the Qatari channel Al Kass that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), in cooperation with the International Federation of Association Football (IFAB), will begin implementing a new mechanism that requires the injured player to be treated outside the field, while preventing him from returning to the field before two minutes have passed, which means that his team will continue to play undermanned during this period.

He said: “This order applies when the player is actually injured and not when he is pretending to be injured, and at that time he will have to leave the field to receive treatment and must remain for two minutes after playing resumes without him.”
He added: “During this period, his team will play incomplete, and consideration was given to implementing these amendments in the Arab Cup for national teams, as it is an important tournament, based on the decision of the President of the International Federation, Gianni Infantino.”

Collina pointed out that the new law excludes only two cases, and said: “When a player is injured due to an intervention in which the other player receives a red or yellow card, the injured player will not leave the field, and the same applies to the goalkeeper. These are the only two exceptions here.”
