The Minister of Housing follows up on the equipment and preparations for the winter

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, followed up on the equipment and preparations for the winter and dealing with the rainy season in the new cities, within the framework of improving the level of services and preserving real estate wealth.

 

The Minister of Housing followed up on the results of the field tours of the Ministry’s officials to the sewage and water stations and utility works in the new cities, and stressed the need for specialized work teams to quickly deal with bad weather conditions and increase rainwater, with the necessity of providing the necessary equipment for intervention. The Minister of Housing stressed the importance of permanent coordination with the relevant authorities such as the Civil Protection Department, the Ambulance Authority, electricity distribution companies, and the Holding Company for Potable Water and Sanitation, to ensure rapid intervention to deal with crises, and to intensify the work of disinfecting rain drains and the main sanitation facilities to ensure that excess water is absorbed and disposed of safely. And quickly, and take all preventive measures to avoid any crises that may affect the operation of facilities or the lives of citizens.

 

In this context, housing officials and a number of city agencies (Shorouk, Sheikh Zayed, New Cairo City, New Damietta, New Assiut City, New Fayoum) inspected sewage lifting stations, maintenance company equipment, and city equipment for drinking water and sewage facilities, in addition to following up on periodic maintenance work and the necessary preventive measures to ensure optimal operation without any interference. Obstacles, and adjusting the level of drain covers and rain drainage chambers to ensure efficient operation during the winter and avoid water accumulations.

 

The work also included disinfecting drains and rain drains, and treating critical points to ensure the smooth movement of water and improving drainage efficiency, in addition to installing new covers for drains in a number of neighborhoods and city areas as part of a plan to raise the level of basic services, in addition to preparing and maintaining electricity generators to ensure continuity of operation in emergency situations, and technical review of the pumps.
