Closing of the tenth session of the Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival

The Sharm El Sheikh Culture Palace witnessed the closing ceremony of the tenth session of the Sharm El Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival, in the presence of the Governor of South Sinai, Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak,  The Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi,   Director Mazen Al-Gharbawi is the president and founder of the festival, along with a large group of artists and theater makers from Egypt, Arab countries, and friendly countries.

 

In his speech during the ceremony, the Governor of South Sinai welcomed the festival’s guests, artists and creatives, stressing that Sharm El-Sheikh will remain a global city of peace and creativity, and a destination for all major cultural and artistic events, due to its security, safety, and unique natural beauty. He praised the creative theatrical performances and experiences of youth from various countries of the world that the festival witnessed, embodying the slogan “Theater for Peace.”

 

He added that the governorate will remain a major supporter of the festival and an umbrella for all cultural activities that reflect the civilized face of Egypt.

During the celebration, the Governor of South Sinai honored the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf. Sobhi, in appreciation of their role in supporting cultural, artistic and youth events, and enhancing Sharm El-Sheikh’s position as a global destination for peace and the arts.

The governor also honored a number of art stars who participated in supporting the theatrical movement, the most prominent of whom were: Elham Shaheen, Hala Sidqi, Sabreen, Hani Ramzy, Suhair Al-Morshedy, Sameh Al-Sariti and Mohamed Radwan.  Director Mazen Al-Gharbawi, head of the festival, and certificates of honor were also awarded to the heads of the jury committees, namely the artist Suhair Al-Murshedy, the artist Sabreen, the artist Sameh Al-Sariti, and the artist Hossam Dagher.

And on the honoring platform, the artist Hani Ramzy was awarded the Samiha Ayoub Appreciation Award, which bears the name of the Lady of Arab Theater. After receiving the award, Ramzi said: “I dedicate the award to my mother.” The person who was the reason for my love for theater, and I will go and give her the award, and may God make her happy with it.”

The ceremony’s activities came under the supervision of the festival’s administration, headed by director Mazen Al-Gharbawi, and the festival’s director, Dr. Angie Al-Bastawi, with great support from ministries and national institutions. The festival is held under the patronage of: the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, in addition to the support of the South Sinai Governorate.

The tenth session bears the name of the great artist Elham Shaheen in appreciation of her artistic career and contributions to supporting theatre.

 

The Governor of South Sinai concluded his speech by emphasizing that the festival, with the participation of stars And artists from different countries of the world, reflecting Egypt’s soft power and its civilizational message calling for dialogue and peace. He expressed his deep appreciation for the festival management and all the participants, praising the security and safety they experienced in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, and its natural beauty that makes it a destination for artists and international conferences.

The ceremony concluded by announcing the invitation to the next session of the festival, on the land of South Sinai, the land of peace, love and convergence.
