Voting in the House of Representatives elections ends… and counting begins immediately

Voting operations for individual seats in the districts canceled from the first round of the first stage of the House of Representatives elections ended at exactly nine o’clock this evening, in a number of the headquarters of the sub-polling committees at the level of the seven governorates, and this was followed by the start of the counting of the votes of voters who had cast their votes in the elections over two consecutive days.

Work continued inside a number of other polling committees, which witnessed the presence of voters within the scope of the Election Assembly (campus of the electoral center) before nine o’clock. In the evening, the headquarters of those committees were closed and an inventory of the numbers of voters present was taken, so that voting would continue until all of them were able to cast their votes in the elections.

 

The committees that had completed their work immediately began counting the voting cards inside the headquarters of the sub-polling committees, where each committee would announce the detailed numerical tally at the conclusion of the counting of the voting cards, including the number of voters registered before the committee, and the number of those who attended and cast their votes. Over the course of two days of the electoral process, the number of valid and invalid votes, and the number of valid votes obtained by each candidate as well as the electoral list, and recording those numbers in the committee’s work minutes, then notifying the general committees and follow-up committees, which in turn will send them to the National Elections Authority.

 

The electoral process was conducted under the supervision of advisors to judicial bodies, and over two consecutive days, amid follow-up by various civil society organizations and local media. And international.

 

The first round of districts canceled during the first stage includes the following districts:

 

1- Giza Governorate: The eighth district, headquartered in the Imbaba district (two seats).

 

2- Fayoum Governorate: The first district, headquartered in the Fayoum Center (3 seats) – The fourth district, headquartered in the Ibshway Center (two seats). 3- Assiut Governorate: The third district, headquartered in the Al-Fath Center (3 seats).

 

4- Sohag Governorate: The first district, headquartered in the Sohag Center (two seats). – The Second District, headquartered in the Akhmim Center (two seats). – The Third District, headquartered in the Maragha Center (one seat). – The Fourth District, headquartered in the Tahta Center (3 seats). – The Fifth District, headquartered in the Gerga Center (two seats). (One seat).

 

5- Qena Governorate: The first district, headquartered in the Qena Center (two seats). – The Second District, headquartered in the Qus Center (two seats). – The Third District, headquartered in the Nag Hammadi Center (3 seats). Seats).

 

7- Beheira Governorate: The first district, headquartered in the Damanhour district (3 seats). – The third district, headquartered in the Abu Homs center (two seats). There are 1,775 sub-polling committees in this electoral round, distributed among the 20 constituencies witnessing the electoral process taking place in 7 governorates.

 

The conduct of this electoral round comes in light of the decision of the National Elections Authority issued last November 18 to nullify and cancel the elections for individual seats in 19 electoral districts in 7 of the 14 governorates that constitute the first phase of the House of Representatives elections, after the authority monitored irregularities that marred the elections in These constituencies said that they constitute fundamental defects that undermine the integrity and legitimacy of the voting and counting processes.
