Abu Dhabi, 5 December / WAM / The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority celebrated International Volunteer Day, affirming the status of volunteer work as an established value in Emirati society, and embodying the wise leadership’s approach to empowering individuals to contribute effectively to the national development process, and consolidating the culture of giving and social responsibility.

This occasion comes in line with the state’s vision of promoting humanitarian and community work, and activating the role of volunteers in supporting the national response system during crises and emergencies, reflecting the spirit of interdependence and solidarity that characterizes Emirati society.

The International Volunteer Day event witnessed the honoring of a group of volunteers participating in the national program for building specialized volunteer cadres, in appreciation of their efforts in promoting a culture of community preparedness, and their distinguished contributions in supporting national response plans.

The honor included more than 350 male and female volunteers representing various vital volunteer specializations, including health care, fire and rescue, and crowd management, who embody diversity and integration in the national volunteer system.

The Authority affirmed its firm commitment to supporting volunteer work as a basic pillar in building the national preparedness system, noting that volunteers represent a pivotal part of community response efforts in times of crises, which enhances the state’s ability to deal efficiently with various challenges.

The Authority pays great attention to qualifying and empowering volunteers through training programs and specialized initiatives that ensure the sustainability of the volunteer system in the fields of emergencies, crises and disasters, most notably the National Program for Building Specialized Volunteer Cadres, which is a national platform for preparing volunteers capable of supporting field efforts in various vital sectors.

The program is implemented within an integrated national system that brings together various sectors and partner entities, with the aim of preparing and qualifying volunteers who possess the specialized skills that enhance the state’s ability to respond effectively in emergencies and crises.

The program is considered a pioneering model of national integration, as it is developed and implemented in cooperation with a group of strategic partners, most notably the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the Emirates Foundation, Power Health, the General Command of Civil Defense, and the Fatima College of Health Sciences, who contribute to capacity building, design training programs, and field supervision of the application of skills in real environments.

His Excellency Ali Saeed Al Neyadi, Chairman of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, said that this honor confirms the vital role played by volunteers in supporting response and emergency tasks, and embodies the values ​​of unity and giving rooted in Emirati society. It also reflects the success of the National Program for Building Specialized Volunteer Cadres in qualifying a generation of competent volunteers capable of participating effectively in various humanitarian and field fields.

He added, “Today we celebrate luminous examples of sons and daughters of the nation who embodied, through their volunteer spirit, the meaning of belonging and giving,” pointing out that volunteering is not just a human act, but rather a national duty that translates the vision of our wise leadership in building a united society capable of facing challenges.

The Authority concluded by emphasizing the continuation of its efforts to enhance the culture of volunteerism and community preparedness through targeted national initiatives, calling on all members of society to join national volunteer systems and participate in building a more prepared and sustainable society.
