Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his happiness at winning the presidency of the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sports affiliated with UNESCO, during the official meeting held in Paris at the organization’s headquarters, in the presence of representatives of member states in the elected executive office of the committee.

In special statements to the “From the Heart of Cairo program broadcast on Radio Misr,” Dr. Ashraf Sobhi affirmed his appreciation for the support of the political leadership and the Egyptian government, and the Minister also thanked To the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs for the great efforts he made in cooperating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports during the recent period, which contributed to securing this historic victory for Egypt, noting that for the first time Egypt has been elected to hold this prominent international position.

Regarding his plan to chair the committee, the Minister of Youth and Sports indicated that the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sports affiliated with UNESCO is responsible for leading the formulation and direction of sports policies at the international level, pointing out that a press conference will be held soon to review the axes of work during The coming period.

Sobhi stressed that Egypt’s unanimous victory indicates its ability to lead the committee to play a distinguished role at the world level and reflects its leadership in developing sports.

The minister also stressed that his candidacy for this position is not out of the blue, but rather is evidence of the state’s efforts in this file, whether at the level of sports and development, or the national strategy, pointing out that Egypt’s role in developing sports has become prominent.
