The Prime Minister reviews the proposal to develop the areas surrounding the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum

    Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting this evening at the government headquarters in the new capital, to review the proposed plan for the project to develop the areas surrounding the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, presented by an alliance between an international company in cooperation with an Egyptian consulting company, within a scope extending from Sphinx Airport in the north to Dahshur in the south.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Hend Abdel Halim, Deputy Governor of Giza, and Dr. Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, Mr. Rob Sykes, Global Advisory Director of a foreign company, and Engineer Ashraf Mohieldin, Director General of the Giza and Pyramids Region at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, along with members of the advisory technical committee formed for this project.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed that the Egyptian state is working to develop all areas surrounding the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, making this region a global tourist destination, in accordance with the procedures. And the standards adopted by UNESCO for the preservation of historical and human heritage, stressing that the project is consistent with Egypt’s strategy for sustainable tourism 2030.

Councilor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said that the officials of the international company reviewed during the meeting the features of the master plan for the project to develop the areas surrounding the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, stressing that the project consolidates Egypt’s position as a leading global destination for heritage, civilization and contemporary tourism by developing an important experience for visitors and linking it to the elements Historical, cultural and environmental Egypt.

  He added: Company officials confirmed that the project is based on a sustainable tourism vision for the Giza Pyramids and its surrounding areas that is implemented strategically, transforming the area into an integrated tourist destination that includes advanced tourism, cultural and entertainment activities within what can be described as the “Pyramids Destination Corridor.”

Company officials confirmed that the coming period will witness taking actual steps towards implementing the project after obtaining all necessary approvals from various parties, noting that there are serious discussions now underway to determine priorities. Developing the areas surrounding the pyramids and investment opportunities, which contributes to attracting local and international investments in the fields of tourism, services, and infrastructure.

Al-Homsani added: The vision is based on an integrated strategic framework that combines heritage protection, tourism revitalization, and infrastructure modernization, while relying on data-based planning methodologies to ensure effective management of land uses and estimate future tourism demand.

He continued: The project aims to organize the region through a clear plan that includes heritage, tourism, and urban divisions, including It achieves a balance between development requirements and preserving the historical identity of the site.

He continued: The general plan includes giving priority to protecting heritage while diversifying tourism experiences, establishing transportation and organizing hubs linking tourist areas, and developing regional corridors linking the Giza Plateau to Saqqara and Dahshur to achieve an integrated trip for visitors.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers indicated that the Prime Minister confirmed at the conclusion of the meeting that there will be a government agency competent to finalize the procedures for the project in a way that ensures facilitating the taking of executive steps. His own, stressing that he intends to provide all forms of support required for this plan.
