5 technical reasons prevented “Al-Abyad” from the Arab Cup final

Athletes confirmed that five technical reasons contributed to the national team’s loss to its Moroccan counterpart by three clean goals, in the semi-finals of the Arab Cup, the day before yesterday, in Doha, and prevented “Al-Abyad” from qualifying for the final match.

They explained that the most prominent of these factors was the state of stress and exhaustion suffered by a number of influential players, such as Caio Lucas, Nicolas Jimenez, and Marcos Meloni, in addition to repeated defensive errors, as happened in the first and third goals that the team conceded, as well as the inability to deal with cross balls, in addition to the injuries suffered by a number of players, including Luan Pereira and Aladdin Zuhair, in addition to the failure of coach Olario Cosmin in some of his interventions, and his lack of perfect reading. The course of the match, especially when Bruno Oliveira was taken off in the 71st minute.

They also pointed out the Moroccan team’s good handling of the match, and the technical quality of its players, stressing to “Emirates Al-Youm” that “Al-Abyad” achieved important gains during the tournament, most notably the noticeable improvement in performance, contact with strong teams, and the emergence of a number of players.

The national team will face its Saudi counterpart, at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon, at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, to determine third and fourth places.

Great development

For his part, the sports analyst, Ahmed Khalifa, Hammad attributed the team’s loss to Morocco to physical exhaustion, and the failure of some players to appear at their true levels, in addition to the absence of influential players due to injury, such as Luan Pereira and Aladdin Zuhair.

Hammad stressed that the team has developed technically, has become characterized by a team playing style, and has played strong matches with enthusiasm and a high fighting spirit, indicating that this alone is not enough to achieve championships.

He added: “The quality of the Moroccan national team players, the continuation of defensive errors, and the lack of good handling of cross balls were among the most prominent reasons for the loss, calling for solutions to this recurring problem.”

Hammad said: “The sports street was initially not satisfied with the team, but the picture changed after the victory over Kuwait and Algeria.”

He considered that Cosmin’s continuation is important in the next stage, despite some observations that can be discussed by the relevant committees in the Football Association.

He praised the emergence of a number of players, most notably goalkeeper Hamad Al-Muqbali, in his first start, along with Jimenez, who played the role of leader on the field, and young striker Mohamed Jumaa.

Continuation of Kuzmin

For his part, the former international player and former Sharjah team manager, Badr Ahmed, said that the team, despite not reaching the final, presented positive levels, stressing that the sports street always looks at the results.

He pointed out that the absence of the outspoken striker, physical fatigue, and injuries were among the most prominent reasons for not qualifying, praising the performance of goalkeeper Hamad Al-Muqbali, Marcos Meloni, and Bruno Oliveira.

He stressed the need for Cosmin to continue, as he is the coach most knowledgeable about the players’ capabilities at the present time.

Fatigue and injuries

In turn, former international player and technical analyst, Ali Mesri, said that there were main reasons for the team’s loss, the most prominent of which was fatigue resulting from the short recovery period, as the team received only two days of rest, compared to three days for the Moroccan team.

He explained that the stress was evident on influential players, such as Caio Lucas, Bruno Oliveira, and Nicolas Jimenez, noting that defender Robin Philippe, who had previously performed at consistent levels, was not successful in the Morocco match.

He added: “The absence of a player like Marcos Meloni, in addition to the quality of the Moroccan national team players, contributed to deciding the match in their favor.”
