Sharjah is champion of the Super Cup

Al-Sharjah won the Super Cup, for the third time in its history, at the expense of Shabab Al-Ahly, which it beat 3-2 in the match that was held at Al Nahyan Stadium in Dubai, on Saturday.
The King, led by his new coach, the Portuguese, Jose Moraes, succeeded in breaking Al-Ahly’s youth complex, after they had previously lost to them on three previous occasions out of seven meetings between the two teams in local and continental tournaments, during the year 2025.
Shabab Al-Ahly entered the confrontation with the best possible scenario, after winning an early penalty kick following a joint error by Khaled Al-Dhanhani and Cho Yu-min, which caused Laba to fall inside the penalty area. Federico Cartabia executed it successfully, giving his team an early goal.
“Cartabia” scored his goal in the second minute and 25 seconds, breaking the record of former Al Ain player, Emmanuel Emenike, who was the fastest goal in the history of the Super Cup finals, scored in the second minute and 53 seconds during his team’s match against Al-Nassr in 2015.
Sharjah did not delay in returning to the atmosphere of the match, after it equalized from a penalty kick awarded after referring to the video technology “VAR” and executed by Caio Lucas to the left of the goalkeeper “26”.
Three minutes later, Sharjah took advantage of its advantage and snatched the lead goal through Luan Pereira, taking advantage of a perfect pass provided by Caio Lucas, which penetrated Shabab Al-Ahly’s defence.
The excitement remained present on the field, and Shabab Al-Ahly succeeded in responding quickly and equalizing through Breno Cascardo, who followed Bruno Cesar’s ball and deposited it into the net (37).
With his first touch after coming on, substitute Othman Kamara took advantage of a fatal lapse by Shabab Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper, Hamad Al-Muqbali, with a wrong exit from his goal to score the winning goal “78”.
Sharjah was forced to complete the match in the 84th minute with 10 players after captain Shaheen Abdul Rahman was expelled after receiving two yellow cards.
The two teams have previously met on three previous occasions in the Super Cup finals, where Sharjah won the 2019-2020 edition title via penalty kicks, while Shabab Al-Ahly succeeded in winning the 2020-2021 and 2023-2024 editions with scores of 1-0 and 6-2, respectively.
