Unforgettable moments.. Deschamps reveals the secrets of the World Cup as a player and coach

French coach Didier Deschamps said that the crowning moments represent the highest peak in the career of any player or coach, noting that these moments combine personal and professional life in a unique way.

He added that having a wife, children, and perhaps a pet by your side during the celebration makes the experience more special and happy.

Deschamps explained during his participation in the World Sports Summit in Dubai: “The feeling of raising a cup or awards makes time pass very quickly, and it is impossible to stop it. Any player or coach realizes that this moment represents the greatest period in his career as a result of years of effort, teamwork and sacrifices, and that those memories must be preserved in the heart because they remain engraved for life.”

He pointed out that: “His experience as a player and coach was full of excitement and unique moments, and that both roles are a wonderful experience, but they are completely different.”

He said: “As a player, you live the match directly and feel every moment on the field, but as a coach, your responsibility includes every player and every detail in your team, but the enthusiasm and feeling do not diminish.”

Regarding the difference between the team he led as a player in 1998 and the team he coached in 2018, Deschamps said: “The comparison is not to know which is better. Both teams were strong in their own way. Success depends on each individual being in the right place and time, and the chemistry between the players, talent, and the right timing are all crucial elements for winning the World Cup.”

He continued: “As a player, life is simpler, you focus on playing and enjoying the daily routine. As a coach, every minute is dedicated to decisions and strategies. The same passion, and when you win as a player you feel personally accomplished, but as a coach, the victory is first for your team, but it is also your own success.”
