Sharjah concludes the first international rescue sports championship with the participation of 86 male and female players

The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club concluded the Sharjah International Rescue Sports Championship, the first of its kind, which witnessed the participation of 86 male and female players representing various countries of the world, in a qualitative sporting event that reflects the rapid development of safety and rescue sports at the regional and international levels.

The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, Advisor in the Office of His Highness the Ruler, the Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, Mohammed Obaid Al-Hussan, a member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Dr. Abdullah Al-Kabouri, and the Vice President of the International Rescue Federation, Sameh Nabil Al-Shazly. They crowned the winners and honored the first-place holders, praising the high technical level of the competitions and the sportsmanship that characterized the participants.

Director General of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, said: “Rescuing sports is one of the approved international sports, and one of the sports included in the internationally recognized Olympic programs, because of the humanitarian and professional dimensions it carries, as it aims to develop the skills of professional rescuers, raise their physical and mental readiness, and ensure their rapid and effective response in emergency and marine rescue situations.”

Al Hosani stressed that organizing this tournament comes within the framework of the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah to support specific and specialized sports, and to promote a culture of maritime safety, in addition to supporting the hosting of international events that contribute to exchanging experiences and raising the level of national and international competencies in this field.

The tournament witnessed strong competitions in various categories and races, which reflected the advanced level of participants, and contributed to consolidating Sharjah’s position as a sports destination capable of hosting specialized international tournaments.

The Director General of the Club appreciated the support of the Sharjah Sports Council and the cooperation of the partners, stressing the keenness of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club to continue organizing such qualitative tournaments that combine sports competition and the humanitarian message.
