Learn about the school summative assessment and the mechanism of its application for students in grades 1-12

The Ministry of Education introduced the school final assessment for the current academic year, following the cancellation of central exams in the second semester, in a step to develop the educational evaluation system and enhance the role of the school and the teacher in measuring learning outcomes, in line with modern trends that focus on comprehensive and continuous evaluation of student performance.
Degree monitored
The school summative evaluation is a scored evaluation, designed and implemented by teachers within the school in accordance with approved central standards and instructions, and aims to measure the extent of students’ mastery of the learning outcomes determined during the semester. This evaluation is applied during the last two weeks of the semester, which contributes to ensuring students’ continued attendance and active participation in the educational process until the end of the semester.
Application mechanism
According to the application mechanism, the final school assessment is implemented for students in the first and second grades in all semesters, and includes all academic subjects, while it is applied to students in grades three through twelfth at the end of the second semester only, and includes all Group (A) subjects, in a manner that is commensurate with the nature of the academic stages and the requirements of each.
Evaluation results
The Ministry confirmed that the results of the school final assessment are counted within the student’s final grade in the subject, given that it is an approved assessment and an assigned grade, stressing the importance of students’ adherence to behavioral instructions and the rules of academic integrity, in addition to the necessity of committing to attendance on the dates specified for the assessments.
Procedure package
The adoption of the school summative assessment comes within a package of measures aimed at developing a more flexible and effective educational environment, which gives the school a pivotal role in the assessment, enhances students’ responsibility towards their learning, and contributes to providing a more accurate and comprehensive picture of their academic levels in various academic subjects.
