The UAE Olympic team advances to the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup

The Olympic team qualified with difficulty to the quarter-finals in the AFC U-23 Cup finals, benefiting from a positive 1-1 draw with the Syrian team during the confrontation that brought them together today, Tuesday, at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in the third and final round for the second group in the group stage, noting that the quarter-final matches will be held on the 16th and 17th of this month.
Olympic White, which finished second in the group with four points, on goal difference from the Syrian team, accompanied its counterpart, the Japanese team, which topped the group with nine points, to the next round in the tournament, while both the Syrian and Qatari teams bid farewell to the tournament.
In the next round, next Friday, at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, the Olympic White will face its counterpart, the Vietnam national team, which topped the first group after achieving the perfect score in the group stage. The Olympic team finished the first half ahead with a goal in the 23rd minute, scored by Ali Al-Maamari from a quick attack led by the team on the Syrian team’s front, while player Mahmoud Al-Omar was able to score the equalizer for Syria in 55th minute. The first half witnessed serious attempts by both teams to control the course of events, especially the Olympic team, which sought to consolidate its lead.
At the beginning of the second half, the Syrian team succeeded in returning to the match and adjusting the result after scoring the equalizer, taking advantage of the Olympic team’s decline. The coach of the Uruguayan national team, Marcelo Broli, made changes in the national team with the entry of Matar Al Shamsi, Mansour Saleh, Muhammad Khalil and Issa Khalfan, with the aim of strengthening the offensive side and regaining the initiative.
