Qatar team star Jeans Reynders wins the title of the first stage of the Sharjah Tour

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Central Finance Department and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Cycling Club, crowned cyclist Jens Reinders from the Qatar Professional Team with the title of the first stage of the 11th Sharjah International Cycling Tour, which was called “Pride and Giving.”

Mohammed Al Mutaiwei of the Emirates Gen Z team came in second place, while Lorenzo Nespoli of the Hungarian MBH Bank team came in third.

The first stage, which was held today, Friday, began for a distance of 129.6 kilometers from Al Layah Canal on Al Alam Island, and concluded at the wheat farm in the Maliha region. The second stage will be held on Saturday, for a distance of 129.56 kilometers, starting from the Jubail Souq in Sharjah, all the way to the Jubail Souq in Kalba.

Crowning the winners

The stage was witnessed and the coronation ceremony was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Abdullah Sultan Al Dah, member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Council and Chairman of the Tour’s Organizing Committee, Mansour Bu Osaiba, President of the UAE Cycling Federation, Mohammed Obaid Al Hasan, Secretary General of the Sharjah Sports Council, Mohammed Sultan Al Khassouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, Dr. Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Tour, along with Hamad Al Mahmoud, representative of the Commercial Development Authority. Al-Siyahi, Ahmed Aqeel, representative of the Sharjah Sports Channel, and a number of officials and representatives of supporting and sponsoring bodies.
