Kalba celebrates the launch of the Sharjah Heritage Days activities in its 23rd session

Sharjah, February 8, 2017 – The activities of the twenty-third session of “Sharjah Heritage Days” were opened in the city of Kalba yesterday evening, in the presence of Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler in the city of Kalba, His Excellency Abu Bakr Al Kindi, Director of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, Saqr Mohammed, Chairman of the External Openings Committee, and a gathering of officials and visitors.
The events provided a vivid glimpse into ancient Emirati life, from scenes of camels, palm trees, and hunting, to the atmosphere of gatherings filled with the scent of coffee and its cultural and social dialogues. Popular food corners also spread, giving visitors a comprehensive experience that evokes the memory of the place and the spirit of the community.
Popular performances captured the attention of visitors, as the Al-Ayyala, Al-Nahma, Al-Taghrouda and Al-Nuban bands presented traditional musical performances and dances that revived the atmosphere of the past in a vivid way that reflected the cultural diversity of the Emirati heritage and the continuity of the present with the roots of heritage.
Handicrafts and traditional professions also introduced visitors to ancient lifestyles, from palm frond making to spinning and weaving, while the participation of Arab and international countries in the current session highlighted the richness and diversity of cultural activities to suit different ages and interests.
The activities are scheduled to move after Kalba to Al Dhaid, Dibba Al Hisn, Khor Fakkan, and finally in Wadi Al Hilo, as part of a plan aimed at enhancing the presence of heritage in the regions of the emirate and conveying the authenticity of Emirati society to the widest segment of the public.
