“Own goal” gives Baniyas a draw with Sharjah

Baniyas tied with its guest, Sharjah, 1-1, today, Friday, at Al Shamkha Stadium, in the presence of about five thousand fans, as part of the 22nd round of the Professional Football League.

Sharjah was the first to score through Othman Kamara, after a distinguished individual effort, which ended with a shot that landed in a difficult place for goalkeeper Fahd Al-Dhanhani (10).

This goal was reflected in the performance of the visiting team, which completely dominated the course of the game for the remainder of the first half, as Hareb Abdullah, Cornado, and Bullet missed several opportunities that were sufficient to increase the number of Sharjah goals.

In the second half, the picture changed dramatically, as the advantage shifted to Baniyas, who was able to adjust the score with an own goal by Sharjah defender Zhou Yu-min, after he accidentally diverted Goodwin’s shot into his own net (51).

After that, Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani played a decisive role in stopping several opportunities that Baniyas had to score another goal, before he was exposed to the second yellow card and was expelled from the field, so the match ended in a draw.

Thus, Baniyas raised its score to 22 points in 11th place, while Sharjah temporarily advanced to seventh place with 25 points.
