Ipswich Town returns to the Premier League after a season of relegation

Ipswich Town promoted to the English Premier League, after defeating its guest, Queens Park Rangers, 3-0, today, Saturday, in the 46th and final round of the Championship League competitions.
Ipswich Town raised its score to 84 points in second place, accompanying Coventry City, the season’s champion who had previously won its promotion, to the English Premier League next season.
Ipswich returned to the English Premier League after being absent for only one season, as they were relegated at the end of the 2024/2025 season, only to return again through the Championship.
Ipswich Town scored the first goal in the third minute through George Hurst, then his colleague Jaden Filogne added the second goal in the ninth minute.
In the 85th minute, Casey McAteer scored the third goal for Ipswich Town.
The identity of the four teams that will compete in the playoff matches has been confirmed in order to obtain the third ticket, whose owner will advance to the league next season.
Millwall finished the season in third place with 83 points, after defeating Oxford United 2-0, and three points behind them were Southampton, who beat their host Preston North End 3-1, then Middlesbrough and Hull City.
Middlesbrough tied with Wrexham 2-2, causing Wrexham, which is owned by the famous American actor Ryan Reynolds, to lose its chance to play in the playoffs to advance to the English Premier League next season, only one year after its promotion from the First Division.
Wrexham had been promoted in four consecutive seasons from the amateur league to the second division, then the first division, then to the (Championship) at the beginning of this season.
