Kane is the only top penalty kick scorer in the World Cup

England and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane set a new record in the history of his participation in the World Cup, after he became the player who scored the most goals from penalty kicks in the history of the World Cup.
Kane scored two goals in England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in the first round of the 2026 World Cup, one of them from a penalty kick, raising his tally to 5 goals from the penalty spot in the tournament, alone at the top.
Kane broke up the partnership with four players who scored 4 goals from penalty kicks, including Batistuta, Eusebio and Messi, in a new historic achievement for the English star.
Kane has also reached more than 200 goal contributions since joining Bayern Munich two seasons ago (201 contributions), by scoring two goals in Croatia, in his participation at the club and national team levels, with 178 matches.
The Bayern Munich star also became equal to his Norwegian counterpart, Erling Haaland, in terms of the scoring tally for each of them in the entire season, whether with his club or his country, as each of them scored 60 goals.
Harry Kane also became England’s top scorer in the World Cup, reaching his tenth goal in 12 matches, equal to former star Gary Lineker, who achieved the same tally.
Kane also surpassed the goalscoring tally of Cristiano Ronaldo, the star and captain of Portugal at the World Cup level, as the latter scored only 8 goals.
