With great bitterness.. Pirlo reveals shocking developments in his nomination file to coach the Italian national team

Former Italian international midfielder Andrea Pirlo announced on Monday that he is no longer among the candidates for the position of coach of his country’s national football team after he was the most prominent to hold the position, after being subjected to severe criticism due to a contract with a Russian company and his modest CV as a coach.
The former Milan and Juventus midfielder wrote on Instagram: “(I) learned (yesterday) that I am no longer a candidate for the position of coach of the Italian national team,” considering that it is “necessary to clarify some points.”
According to the Italian press, Pirlo (47 years old) was supposed to be appointed this week to head the technical management of the Italian national team, which is still suffering from the shock of its absence from the last three editions of the World Cup (2018, 2022 and 2026).
But the name of the former “maestro” and current coach of United FC in the UAE Professional League was met with reservations, if not surprise, in Italy, where the Italian national team is facing difficulty in emerging from an unprecedented crisis.

Pirlo said in a lengthy statement, “I followed with great bitterness the discussion that took place regarding my nomination,” expressing his desire to thank the new technical director, Paolo Maldini, and his special advisor, the Brazilian Leonardo, for “the appreciation and trust they have shown.”
He added, “I feel sorry that a decision based on sporting criteria quickly drifted into a public controversy, during which intentions and ideas were attributed to me that do not reflect my personality.”
