Sudan files a lawsuit against the UAE in the International Court of Justice

The court said in a statement today, Thursday, that Sudan’s request is related to “actions committed by” the rapid support forces and the allied militias, including “For example, and not limited to, genocide, killing, theft of property, rape, forced displacement, infringement of others’ property, sabotage public property and violation of human rights.”

According to the statement, Sudan claims that the UAE “Plot in the genocide against Al -Masalit by directing and providing it with widespread financial, political and military support for the Militia of Rebuel Rapid Support Forces.”

The statement stated that the plaintiff (Sudan) seeks to establish the jurisdiction of the court on Article 36, Paragraph 1, of the statute of the court and the ninth article of Genocide agreementWhich Sudan and the UAE are a party to it.

Sudan requests to refer to temporary measures

According to the statement, Sudan asks the court to refer to the following temporary measures, pending a final ruling in the case:

First, “the United Arab Emirates, according to its obligations under the agreement to prevent and punish the crime of genocide, regarding the Malatit in the Republic of Sudan, must take all measures that fall within the scope of its authority to prevent the commission of all actions that fall within the scope of the second article of this agreement, especially:

(A) The group’s members were killed;

(B) Performing physical or mental harm to the group members;

(C) I intentionally subjugate the group to living conditions whose actual or partial destruction is intended; and

(D) Imposing measures aimed at preventing childbearing within the group.

Second, “The United Arab Emirates, with regard to members of the Masalit Group, must ensure that no irregular armed units may be directed or supported by them and any organizations and people who may undergo their control, direct or impact, i.e. actions described in point (1) above, or conspiring to commit genocide, or direct and public incitement to commit genocide, or attempts Committing genocide, or collusion in genocide. ”

The court stated that they pursued Article 74 of the court’s rules, “to request a reference to temporary measures, priority on all other cases.”
