D. Ayman Ashour: Egyptian -Italian cooperation is a successful model in linking scientific research to development

In the context of the fifty years since the signing of the Convention on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Egypt and Italy, the Italian embassy in Cairo organized a workshop with the participation of a group of researchers, academics and representatives of universities and research centers from the two countries, in order to celebrate this occasion and review the achievements of joint cooperation. Technology between Egypt and Italy is a distinguished model for active bilateral partnership, noting the Egyptian state’s keenness to deepen international cooperation in the areas of higher education and scientific research, internationalizing academic institutions, promoting innovation and linking scientific research to the industry, in support of sustainable development and vision of Egypt 2030. Italy, Chancellor Giuseppe Babali, Head of Economic, Scientific and Cultural Affairs of Italy in Egypt, and Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Authority, explaining during his speech that the Egyptian Italian Executive Program represented during the past decades one of the most successful forms of bilateral cooperation, and contributed to supporting joint research projects in strategic areas such as renewable energy, water management, smart cities and the protection of cultural heritage, and added that the authority continues to support this Cooperation to include more priority specializations, and to provide greater opportunities to exchange experiences and knowledge between researchers from both sides, which contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian scientific research at the international level.
