Cooperation between Khalifa University and the International Institute for the Elimination of Infectious Diseases

Abu Dhabi, October 3/ WAM/ Khalifa University of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding, with the International Institute for the Elimination of Infectious Diseases “Galled”, with the aim of promoting public health to eliminate infectious diseases at the regional and global levels, within the agenda of the public health symposium 2025 organized by Khalifa University.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Prof. Dr. Bayan Sharif, Academic President at Khalifa University, and His Excellency Dr. Farida Al -Hosani, Executive Vice President of the International Institute for the Elimination of Infectious Diseases.
According to the memorandum, the university and the institute work to discuss ways of cooperation in several areas of knowledge exchange and benefit from experiences, conduct research and studies in the relevant medical fields, and implement joint programs and initiatives such as the training program to eliminate diseases, the “Achieved” medical program, in addition to public lectures and joint future projects.
Professor Dr. Bayan Sharif said that at a time when strong health systems have become more important than ever, this cooperation reflects the common vision to enhance and develop education and scientific research to support a more flexible and adaptive health care system.
He pointed out that the experience of Khalifa University in biomedics, genome science and health care backed by artificial intelligence complements the global leadership of the International Institute for the Elimination of Infectious Diseases, as this institutional and research cooperation seeks to achieve an impact that extends to various parts of the world.
For his part, Simon Blander, CEO of the International Institute for the Elimination of Infectious Diseases, said that cooperation with Khalifa University is an important step to develop the knowledge and expertise necessary to combat infectious diseases, and by integrating the institute’s approach with the distinguished research capabilities of the university; The public health system in the UAE and abroad can be pushed towards tangible progress to eliminate a number of infectious diseases.
For its part, His Excellency Dr. Farida Al -Hosani stressed the importance of institutional and research cooperation between the university and the institute because of its important role in enabling the next generation of public health leaders, and in line with the UAE’s vision to be a global center for innovation and health, and to continue supporting national capabilities and providing sustainable solutions to protect societies from infectious diseases.
For her part, Dr. Habiba Al -Saffar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Khalifa University, stressed that this cooperation will contribute to linking the academic and research capabilities of the university to the international network of the institute, which provides opportunities for faculty members and students and researchers participating in programs that address diseases directly, as well as building skills and providing the necessary solutions to face future health challenges.
