The Foreign Minister stressed the aspiration to hold the eighth session of the Egyptian-Indian Joint Committee during the first half of 2026, which Cairo will host, which will contribute to raising the level of joint cooperation in various fields.
The Foreign Minister also praised the launch of the first round of the strategic dialogue, He stressed the keenness to hold dialogue on a regular basis, alternating between the two countries, stressing the importance of exchanging visions on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation within the framework of the new mechanism, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields.
Minister Abdel-Aty also stressed interest in expanding cooperation with India in the fields of economy, trade and investment, and working to raise the volume of trade exchange to reach $12 billion over the next five years, reviewing the economic reforms that The Egyptian government implemented it in recent years, including monetary policy and a flexible exchange rate system, which contributed to improving the performance of the economy, raising Egypt’s credit rating, and enhancing the investment climate. Minister Abdel Aty stressed the importance of forming a businessmen council between the two countries, and establishing an Egyptian-Indian Chamber of Commerce, as well as holding a business forum during the Indian Minister’s upcoming visit to Egypt during the first quarter of next year, within the framework of revitalizing economic, trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and India.
The meeting also discussed ways of cooperation in the field of connectivity and international trade corridors with their various political and economic dimensions, especially in light of Egypt possesses advanced infrastructure that allows the connection between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, in addition to the pivotal role of the Suez Canal.
The official spokesman added that the Foreign Minister congratulated the Prime Minister of India on the occasion of her imminent assumption of the presidency of the BRICS group in 2026, expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation with the countries of the group, especially in the economic, financial and monetary fields, in a way that achieves development and prosperity for the peoples of the countries. Members.
With regard to regional developments in the Middle East, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit held on October 13 and the efforts made by Egypt to reach an agreement to stop the war in Gaza in cooperation with the United States and regional partners, stressing the need for both parties to the agreement to commit to its implementation in order to consolidate the agreement and support stability in the region. In this context, he also discussed Egypt’s position on the security arrangements and governance in the Gaza Strip, the access to humanitarian and relief aid, and the early recovery and reconstruction conference that Egypt intends to host in November.
