The Egyptian National E-Learning University organizes the Universities Championship for e-Sports

The Egyptian National E-Learning University organized the Universities Championship for Electronic Sports, within the Egyptian Universities League No. 53. The tournament comes under the sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation and the Egyptian Electronic Sports Federation. It comes within the framework of the state’s support for digital activities and activating the principles of digital transformation, which represents one of the main axes of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research.

 

The tournament was held at the university’s headquarters in a professional organizational atmosphere that highlights the university’s readiness to host major digital events, thanks to its advanced technological structure and its extensive experience in e-learning. The university was keen to provide a high-level technical environment equipped to support competitive games among students. The events witnessed the participation of 70 male and female students from 19 Egyptian universities, competing amidst a large student presence and an enthusiastic atmosphere that confirms the growing interest in digital activities within Egyptian universities.

 

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of an elite group of leaders of higher education and sports federations, Professor Dr. Hisham Abdel Salam, President of the Egyptian National E-Learning University, Professor Dr. Ahmed Ragheb, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Student Life Affairs and Vice President of the Egyptian Sports Federation. For universities, Professor Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdi, Secretary General of the Federation and Executive Director of the Federation. A number of university leaders, leaders of the two unions, and representatives of the participating universities also participated.

 

Empowering students… And the distinguished participation of female university students

In a step that embodies the university’s philosophy of empowering its students and involving them in managing events, university students were relied upon in various organizational committees, from coordination, technical management, and receiving delegations, to technological follow-up and preparing electronic competition arenas. This contributed to giving students practical experiences in organization, teamwork, and problem solving. The tournament also witnessed the participation of university students in presenting the opening paragraphs, where they presented a professional performance that received wide praise from the audience, as it is a qualitative step that reflects the students’ ability to engage in the fields of public speaking, digital media, and content creation.

 

University President: We are working to build a model for a digital university that leads change.

In this context, the University President stated:

"We are proud to host this tournament under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Professor Dr. Ahmed. Ragheb, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Student Life Affairs, which is a clear message that the Egyptian state recognizes the value of e-sports as a modern path for building strategic thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills. The success of the tournament reflects the university’s digital identity and its ability to provide an integrated model for technology-based student activity." His Excellency added: “What our students presented during the organization represents evidence of the quality of our educational system, and our ability to empower young people and give them practical skills that are in line with the requirements of the labor market.”

 

A future direction towards expanding digital activities

 

At the conclusion of the events, the Egyptian National E-Learning University confirmed its continued support of e-sports within Egyptian universities, strengthening partnerships with sports federations, and providing broader platforms for students to discover their digital talents.

This step comes in line with the state’s vision of building a digital knowledge society capable of competing regionally and globally, and with the university’s direction towards consolidating its position as a leading digital academic institution that provides A contemporary model for university education.
