Government Summit/Cybersecurity Council signs a memorandum of understanding with MasterCard to protect the digital system

Dubai, February 5 / WAM / The Cyber ​​Security Council signed a memorandum of understanding with MasterCard International, with the aim of enhancing the protection of the national digital system.

Under this cooperation, the two parties will work together to improve cybersecurity resilience by exchanging global best practices and supporting the development of forward-looking policies in the field of cybersecurity.

This partnership was announced on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2026 in Dubai, which also witnessed the two parties launching a joint report on the current state of the cybersecurity landscape in the country.

The report reviewed the risks of cyber threats and how the rapid digital transformation in the UAE contributed to consolidating the country’s position as a global center for innovation, in addition to highlighting existing national initiatives to build a more flexible and secure digital future.

This cooperation between the Cyber ​​Security Council and MasterCard International contributes to utilizing its extensive experience in combating electronic crimes and fraud and strengthening the cybersecurity system in the country.

Since 2018, the technology leader has invested approximately $10.7 billion in strategic acquisitions and advanced cybersecurity solutions, and over the past 10 years, Mastercard’s AI tools have contributed to preventing $70 billion worth of fraud around the world.

According to a Cybersecurity Ventures report, the cost of cybercrime globally is expected to reach about $15.6 trillion by 2029, making it the third largest economy in the world.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, said that as the UAE advances in its path towards digital transformation, the levels of exposure to cybercrime are increasing, and the risks threatening vital sectors are multiplying rapidly, driven by artificial intelligence and other threats. In light of this accelerating scene, both the Cybersecurity Council and MasterCard share a firm commitment to building a safe and prosperous digital future, stressing the constant endeavor to employ the company’s global expertise and advanced technologies to enhance the cybersecurity system in the country and raise its readiness. To confront increasingly complex cyberattacks and consolidate its leadership in this field, through this cooperation, we will launch a new wave of innovation that contributes to enhancing the country’s ability to anticipate threats and limit their effects.
