"Local development" Reviews the ministry’s activity in a week

The Media Center of the Ministry of Local Development issued the “Weekly Infographic” In its 159th edition, it focused on the most prominent activities and events of the Ministry, led by Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, which included a group of events, meetings, and follow-up of important development projects. Dr. Manal Awad received a report from the relevant sectors of the Ministry regarding the regularity of work in parking lots and gas stations in various governorates of the Republic following the movement in petroleum product prices, noting that the governors, their deputies and executive leaders conducted extensive field tours in various cities, centers and neighborhoods to follow up on developments in the situation to determine the extent to which Drivers’ commitment to the new fare tariff, regular work and movement to transport passengers, adherence to traffic routes, as well as following up on work at gas stations to ensure the availability of petroleum products and selling them at the official price.

 

The Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of the Environment also announced the initial delivery of the safe sanitary landfill in the city of Barani, Matrouh Governorate, at a cost of 65 million pounds. Through the formed committee responsible for managing, following up and receiving the work of infrastructure projects to ensure the implementation of all work items included in the contracts for the infrastructure phases of the waste system in the governorates, within the framework of implementing the directives of the President of the Republic and the assignments of the Prime Minister, regarding accelerating the implementation of the integrated system for managing municipal solid waste in the various governorates. Dr. Manal Awad received Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, the new UAE Ambassador to Cairo, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two sides in a number of areas of work of the Ministry of Local Development, most notably the file of training, exchanging experiences, qualifying cadres in the governorates, digital transformation, and facilitating the provision of services to citizens, in addition to the Egypt Prize. On behalf of Dr. Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, Dr. Walaa Gad Al-Karim, Director of the Central Unit of the Decent Life Initiative at the Ministry of Local Development, participated in the activities of the third edition of the Africa Blue Summit. Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, received a report from the Ministry’s Strategic Management and Local Development Sector on the efforts of the Local Development Fund. In financing and supporting small and micro enterprises in the governorates to provide job opportunities for youth and women, noting that the Fund financed 614 new projects during the period from July 1 until the end of October 2025, with a total financing amounting to 10 million and 181 thousand pounds, from which 614 citizens benefited. Dr. Manal Awad also participated in the ninth meeting of the Board of Governors; Under the chairmanship of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to discuss a number of topics, with the participation of governors via video conference technology. During the meeting, the Minister of Local Development confirmed her continued follow-up of the efforts of governors and executive leaders in various governorates to monitor drivers’ commitment to the new tariff and the regularity of work in parking lots and gas stations, noting the intensification of oversight campaigns to control prices and confront monopoly in cooperation with the concerned authorities, and to establish Outlets and exhibitions for goods at reduced prices in coordination with supplies and civil society. On behalf of Dr. Manal Awad, Ambassador Hossam Al-Qawish, Assistant Minister of Local Development for International Cooperation, participated in the activities of the Third National Urban Forum (NUFA3), which was held during the period from 15 to 17 October 2025 in the cities of Khankendi and Baku in the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the slogan "Towards more resilient and healthier cities: harnessing innovative solutions and regional partnerships".

Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, announced the issuance of Prime Minister’s Resolution No. 3766 of 2025 regarding extending the prescribed period for submitting requests for reconciliation in some building violations to the competent administrative authority for an additional six months starting from 11/5/2025, in accordance with the law New Reconciliation No. 187 of 2023 and its executive regulations, within the framework of the state’s efforts to facilitate citizens’ affairs and take into account the social dimension.

The Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of the Environment also participated in the sixty-third meeting of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss a number of important topics and files.
