The African Union praises the role of the Commission on Human Rights in supporting rights and freedoms

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, held a constructive meeting with the African Union Commissioner for Human and Peoples’ Rights, Idrissa Sow, accompanied by members of the new office. At the beginning of the meeting, the Commission’s delegation reviewed its mandate and ongoing activities, in addition to ways to enhance coordination and develop integration within the African Union system.
The Chairperson of the Commission praised the prominent role played by the Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in promoting and protecting human rights on the continent, stressing For its important contributions in this field, while reiterating his commitment to supporting the Commission and encouraging member states to strengthen its mandate and implement its tasks effectively.
For his part, Commissioner Idrissa Sow congratulated the Chairman of the Commission on his election, stressing the Commission’s full support for his efforts, and its readiness to work with him in order to advance common priorities and strengthen the human rights system in Africa.
