The activities of World Diabetes Day at Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University revealed that the incidence of diabetes has exceeded Weqaya” and the Saudi Diabetes and Endocrine Society, to ensure that the disease is contained before its complications escalate among employees.

The choice of the slogan “Diabetes in the Work Environment” for the year 2025 came to reflect a national trend that focuses on the employee as the basic pillar of production, as the event aims to integrate periodic examinations into the daily routine of the facilities, instead of waiting for the patient to visit hospitals.

The campaign used Using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques as an unprecedented quality tool in field examination, a corner has been allocated for retinal examination capable of sorting cases with extreme accuracy and speed, which eliminates the need for long waiting lists in specialized clinics and enhances the chances of preventing vision loss.

Dr. Ghada Al-Youssef, family medicine consultant and college dean, confirmed that the millions of infected people require a change in the style of confrontation from traditional treatment to enhancing the quality of life, noting that early detection is at some stage. The initiative was in line with the objectives of the “Live 80” program, one of the national initiatives. The ten participating pillars witnessed great interaction, as they focused on advanced drug education and correcting misconceptions about lifestyle, with broad participation from the Center for Family and Community Medicine and the Deanship of Student Affairs, to provide immediate consultations from endocrinology specialists.

The beneficiaries of the initiative explained that the examination would be available at the workplace. Giving them a golden opportunity to check on their health without trouble, as some of them indicated that these field trips revealed to them important vital indicators that they were unaware of, which proves the usefulness of proactive screening in improving health behavior.

The event concluded its work after it succeeded in transforming university halls into an integrated preventive platform, calling on all university employees to invest the remaining hours to benefit from modern diagnostic techniques and available advisory services, to ensure a healthier and more sustainable functional society.
